UK45 (4 updates)
Posted by Rameen V. on 14 May 2012 01:13 PM

We're looking into accessibility issues affecting UK45.

update1: We had loggers installed to find out what was going on with the server prior to downtime. These will be investigated in full and action taken to prevent further downtime.

update2: Onsite techs do also need to make some changes to the BIOS, we have scheduled this to happen now rather than later since the server is rebooting already.

update3: BIOS changes completed. Server is now booting.

update4: Problem account causing the issues has been traced and suspended.

uk37 outage
Posted by Chris W. on 09 May 2012 08:39 AM

Uk37 suffered an overload and was rebooted. The server was not accepting traffic and the DC was notified. The DC found a problem with the VLAN and corrected it. However, the server is still not reachable. We are awaiting for a KVM to be hooked up to further investigate.

update: the primary drive has gone corrupt again. We are attempting to recover the data to be able to boot the server for now. An initial FSCK came back as "clean" but we are forcing another one now.

update: We made a lot of progress with the data recovery but then the drive started to flop on the controller. We are now having a new server setup to begin restoration from our remote backups.

update: We are well in the backup transfer but noticed a few minor hints of problems with the new server. We are currently arranging to have a brand new server to be racked up. This will be all brand new hardware (and a lot faster).

action update: The brand new server is online with cPanel. All backups have been transferred to the server. We currently have 5 simultaneous restore processes to speed up the entire recovery process. Things to note: We was unable to re-route the main/shared IP. The new shared IP is 213.229.82.8. You do not have to make any DNS adjustments if you are using our DNS service. Otherwise you will need to update your A records with your DNS provider to the new IP. Clients that had a dedicated IP will have those reassigned once the restoration is complete. If you have any questions, please open a thread in our forums as your question will likely be beneficial to the community.
